The best city in the world 2025. Tourists love them – and it’s hard to be surprised!

Travel enthusiasts from all over the world have chosen their favorite destinations again! In this year’s, already 28th edition of the Readers’ Choice Awards, almost 200,000 travelers cast their votes. At the top of the ranking was Valletta – the picturesque and intimate capital of Malta, which won the title of the best city for a trip in 2025.

In Europe, we have many capitals that delight with their history, modernity or architecture. But among them there is one that, although we can’t find boulevards or big business districts here, has won the hearts of tourists from all over the world. It’s Valletta! This unique capital can charm with the calm and atmosphere of the south sun, which illuminates its narrow streets almost every day.

This place offers not only sunny weather for most of the year, but also an extremely rich culture and history that dates back many centuries. Although Valletta resembles more than one district of a larger city, it is a full-fledged capital of the state and the center of political, cultural and tourist life. And its location on the Mediterranean Sea makes it a paradise for all who love warmth, Mediterranean cuisine and peace.

We cannot forget about this place and its rich history. Valletta, the heart of Malta, has for centuries been a very important place on the map of the Mediterranean. Over the centuries, it has passed from hand to hand, being a place of sieges or sea battles. In the 20th century, it was under the rule of the British Empire. The island regained its independence in 1964, but British influence is still visible today in education, administration and the daily habits of its inhabitants.

Today, Valletta is a place full of life and art. Walking its narrow streets, we can move from the British period to the present. We have here both historic churches and palaces, as well as modern art galleries and cultural centers. Moreover, the city was entered on the UNESCO World Heritage List, which emphasizes its unique character.

Valletta, although the smallest capital of Europe, has everything that can charm travelers, such as the sun, blue seas, rich history and unique Mediterranean charm. The advantage is that the capital can be visited on foot in one day, stopping for a cup of coffee overlooking the golden bay.

Every corner of Valletta tells a different story – about old knights, merchants or artists who created its character. And although the city is small, the impressions it leaves are definitely large and unforgettable!!!
