How to get to Norway?
Norway, as well as Denmark and Sweden, can be reached both by ferry and by land. Below we present our route proposals for both variants.
Crossing by land
Choosing a road by land going to Norway, we can start our journey from Poland then heading to Germany, or directly from Germany going through Denmark – Sweden – Norway. The most popular route runs through two bridges – Storebælt and Øresund. After crossing the Øresund bridge, you enter Sweden and then you can head towards Norway. It is a convenient option especially for those who want to travel by camper.
The advantage of driving over land is certainly the possibility of planning stops or exploring interesting and new places or beautiful views along the way, riding e.g. over bridges in Denmark. The downside may be tolls and fuel costs. In addition, a long journey can be tiring for the driver, especially when there is no other one to change.
Ferry crossing:
The second variant of getting to Norway is, of course, popular ferry connections. We have three proposals for ferry cruises from Germany, Denmark and Poland.
Connections Germany – Denmark
Kiel (Germany) – Oslo (Norway)
It is a ferry connection operated by Color Line, lasting about 20 hours. It is a longer ferry crossing without the need to pass through Denmark, during which we can rest before our further journey.
Connections Denmark – Norway
Hirtshals — Kristiansand/Oslo/Stavanger/Bergen
These are shorter voyages from northern Denmark to various cities in the south of Norway. Connection operated by carriers such as Fjord Line and Color Line.
Connections Poland-Norway
Gdynia – Oslo (ferries through Karlskrona and other cities in Sweden)
Although there are no direct ferry connections from Poland to Norway, a popular route for travelers is the crossing from Gdynia to Karlskrona and then driving directly to Norway.
Ferry cruises, just like land cruises, also have its advantages and disadvantages. Ferry costs can be higher, especially in high season or traveling by motorhome, than land travel. But by choosing a ferry, we shorten the journey time, we can relax during the cruise and most importantly enjoy the beautiful landscapes of the coast of Norway !
