We have been planning our camper journey to the Netherlands – a land of windmills, tulips and bicycles – for a long time. Finally came the moment that we decided to get on a motorhome and move towards the dream Netherlands. We went on our journey in early July. Even before leaving, we decided that we want to spend 7 days in the Netherlands and visit another place every day. And here’s our itinerary. Maybe someone in you will want to take the same route ; -)

Day 1 – cruise Sweden – Germany

The first thing we went to Swedish Trelleborg from where we went to Germany on the TT-Line ferry. The cruise lasted about 9 hours, but during this time we could take advantage of the attractions on the ferry. And above all, rest before the route that awaited us on that day. After reaching the German Travemünde, we went towards the campsite near Hamburg. Here we spent our first night. Driving on the motorway, it took us about 2 hours to drive on this stretch. We ended the day admiring the beautiful sunset.

Day 2 – towards the Netherlands – Giethoorn

The next morning we set off for the Netherlands. Our goal was to reach our first point – the town of Giethoorn. After a few hours of driving, we reached a charming village where ATTENTION there are no roads, only canals. We decided to rent a small boat and swim through the sewers admiring the local houses with beautiful gardens. And so our second day passed.

Day 3 – Amsterdam

On the third day, we set off for the capital – Amsterdam. During the tour of this beautiful city we visited min. Van Gogh Museum. We also went towards the Old Town, where there are picturesque streets and many historic buildings. Amsterdam is also famous for its numerous canals, which can be sailed by ship or boat. We had to buy tulips, maybe we can grow some ; -) As for the campsite we recommend Camping Zeeburg. It is a good place to stay as it offers many amenities such as showers, laundry and free Wi-Fi.

Day 4 – Haarlem and Lisse

The next day of our tour is dedicated to Haarlem and Lisse. Haarlem is a charming town, full of beautiful townhouses and museums. Being here, you must see the Town Hall tower. It is one of the most important attractions of the city. Climbing to the top of the tower, you can enjoy beautiful views of the city and the surrounding area. The next point of our day is the village of Lisse. Here, a must-see is Keukenhof, which is known for its tulip gardens. Seeing so many thousands of tulips live makes a really amazing impression. After a day full of impressions, it was time to rest in front of another city… The Hague.

Day 5 – The Hague

On the fifth day of our trip we went to the third largest city in the Netherlands – The Hague. The city is famous not only for its many beautiful monuments, but is also one of the most important diplomatic and political places. If you are in The Hague, you must visit the headquarters of the government and parliament of Binnenhof. Also worth seeing is the Royal Palace Huis ten Bosch or the residence of the Dutch royal family. For those who are looking for more experiences, we have numerous museums here. We ended our day at Scheveningen, a very popular beach in The Hague

Day 6 – Rotterdam

The next day we headed for Rotterdam. A city known for its modern architecture. After the trip, we decided to go for a walk along the port first. Another of our points were the famous Kubuswoningen, or futuristic houses in the shape of cubes. And then the Euromast Tower – over 180m high – from which we have a wonderful view of the city and the surrounding area. There is a restaurant and a cafe in the tower. We spent the night at the campsite, closer to our last attraction.

Day 7 – Kinderdijk

The last point on our camper trip around the Netherlands was the town of Kinderdijk. We could admire the historic windmills here, which are inscribed on the UNESCO list. A walk among the windmills surrounded by water and numerous fields was the perfect culmination of our journey. After a short rest, we headed back to Germany, where a ferry to Sweden was waiting for us.

The whole trip was full of unforgettable moments, picturesque views and discovering the beauty of the Netherlands in a motorhome.
