White sand, turquoise water and postcard-like views – this is what everyday life looks like in a place that has won the title of the second most beautiful country in the world. Although many dream of an exotic holiday in the tropics, hardly anyone knows that this paradise on earth belongs to the UK.

We are talking about Turks and Caicos Islands, an archipelago in the Caribbean, which in the latest global ranking overtook dozens of famous tourist destinations. It consists of 40 islands, of which only eight are inhabited. This unusual corner of the world attracts not only lovers who like the combination of luxury and nature, but also those who seek peace away from civilization.

Interestingly, the archipelago is inhabited by only about 45,000 people, thanks to which a large part of the islands has retained its virgin character.

The only country that overtook Turks and Caicos in the beauty ranking was Norway — a country of fjords, mountains and wildlife. But if you dream of a warm climate, white beaches and barefoot luxury relaxation, it is the Caribbean territory of the British that can become your paradise on earth.

First of all, the archipelago is famous for some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Grace Bay on Providenciales Island. It has been awarded many times as the best beach in the world, with white sand and crystal clear, turquoise water. Equally impressive are the beaches of Half Moon Bay, Governor’s Beach and Long Bay Beach.

Turks and Caicos Islands are also a real paradise for diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. The third largest coral reef system in the world offers meetings with sea turtles, colorful fish and dolphins. Diving sites such as West Caicos Wall, French Cay or Northwest Point Marine National Park are especially worth considering.

A unique experience is the ability to observe humpback whales, which between January and April migrate through the waters of the archipelago. At the same time, you can also admire the annual migration of a thousand land crabs to Middle Caicos.

For history lovers, we recommend the Museum on the Grand Turk, where we can learn about the past of the islands related to salt production, slavery and the discovery of America (some historians say that it was here, not the Bahamas, that Columbus landed for the first time). The Grand Turk lighthouse and remnants of former plantations, such as Cheshire Hall, are also worth a visit.

But there are many other attractions waiting for us on the archipelago. National parks such as Chalk Sound with blue lagoons, a flamingo reserve in North Caicos or the Conch Bar caves in Middle Caicos are worth attention.

Turks and Caicos Mountains are also a place where you can experience the true Caribbean culture – from local music festivals and traditional ripsaw dance, to delicious seafood-based cuisine.

For those who are looking for peace and relaxation, we recommend smaller islands such as Salt Cay or South Caicos where, far from the crowds, we can forget about everyday life.

It is worth mentioning that despite its status as a luxury destination, Turks and Caicos have retained its authentic character. It is a place where nature still rules, and a high standard of services goes hand in hand with respect for the local environment and culture.

Then get on a plane to one of the most beautiful corners of the world! 🙂

Overseas territory of Great Britain one of the most beautiful places in the world?
