It is a completely different world. Located in the north, right by the ocean, this place is very special. It is beautiful, green, and wild. And the food… well, you could write a whole book about it.

Spain as You Don’t Know It

The views here are amazing right away. Forget about the dry and hot fields of southern Spain. Here, the mountains meet the sea, and big ocean waves hit the high rocks. There are thick, green forests everywhere. It rains often, but that is why the plants look so fresh and pretty.

The Basque people are proud and love their region very much. They have their own unique language and care about their traditions. However, they are very kind and friendly to guests.

Bilbao and San Sebastián – Two Different Worlds

There are two main places you must see in the Basque Country:

Bilbao: It used to be an industrial city, but now it is a symbol of modern style. Everyone knows the Guggenheim Museum – that huge, silver building with strange shapes. But Bilbao also has nice little bars by the river and a lovely old town (Casco Viejo) where life moves slowly.

San Sebastián (Donostia): This city is very stylish and clean. It has a beautiful beach shaped like a shell (La Concha). With the mountains around the bay, it is one of the prettiest cities in Europe.

Food You Will Love

Food is very important in this region. Instead of regular snacks, you will find pintxos everywhere. These are small portions of food on a piece of bread, held together with a toothpick. In a bar, you take a plate and choose what you like. At the end, you pay for the number of toothpicks left on your plate. It is very simple.

The Basque Country has many luxury restaurants, but you can also eat great food in small, local bars. You should try the local wine called Txakoli. It is a bubbly white wine. They pour it into the glass from high up to make it taste better.

Why Should You Go There?

The place has a very special atmosphere and feels real, not just made for tourists. It is wild but incredibly beautiful. If you like nature, walking on cliffs, surfing, or just having the best dinner of your life near the mountains and the sea, the Basque Country is for you.

It is a great choice for people who want something better than a typical trip and don’t like big crowds.

If you think Spain is only about palm trees, hot sun, and flamenco, you have to visit the Basque…

[31

post-1990","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-destinations
["GET
