Lapland, usually called “Santa Claus Land”, is an area in the north of Scandinavia, which covers the territory of as many as 4 countries: Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia. The region is mainly famous for its picturesque landscapes. In winter, we can admire the aurora borealis here, and in summer we have the sun that does not set for many weeks. It is also a place where we will meet the Sami, the indigenous inhabitants who preserve their traditions and culture.

Lapland is a place that attracts tourists from all over the world not only because of its unusual natural phenomena, but also because of its rich tourist offer. We have here the opportunity to practice winter sports, many routes and trails for trekkers. But the biggest attraction – especially for children – is the opportunity to meet Santa Claus at his headquarters in Rovaniemi This place that impresses all year round with its unique atmosphere.

And these are our proposals of the most interesting places that you can not miss. In order not to bore you with reading, we divided it into two parts 😉 The first of them are the towns of Levi and Inari.

Levi – a paradise for skiers

If you are a fan of white madness and you love skiing Levi is the perfect place for you! It is a popular ski resort located in the heart of Lapland, northern Finland. Levi is one of the most famous places in the region, which attracts both winter sports enthusiasts and wildlife lovers!

The resort has more than 40 ski runs, including both beginners and advanced ones, making it an ideal place for families as well as experienced skiers and snowboarders. There are also professional ski schools and rental shops if you don’t have your own.

Apart from skiing, one of the main attractions in Levi is ice zorbing! The fun involves riding a special ball on a frozen lake. It is an unforgettable experience for the whole family, which provides a lot of laughter and great fun 😉

After a day on the slope, we can relax and relax in one of the numerous restaurants or cafes, or go to the shops in the center of Levi. Those who would like to warm up after winter madness can go to the local thermal baths!

Inari – the heart of Lapland

Another place worth visiting is Inari – a small, charming town located in the heart of Lapland. It is one of the most important villages of the indigenous peoples of the north who have been living in this area for centuries. It is situated on a picturesque lake of the same name, one of the largest lakes in Finland and one of the most important symbols of the region.

One of the main attractions of Inari is Siida – Sámi Museum and Nature Center. It is a place dedicated to the history, culture and traditions of the Sami people, where you can learn about their way of life. The museum features interactive exhibitions, ethnographic exhibits and information about the Sami heritage.

Inari is also an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area of the Lapland National Park, where we have many tourist trails leading through tundra and forests. It is here that we can admire the aurorae, which is one of the most spectacular atmospheric phenomena in the north.

While in Inari, it is also worth trying local Lapland cuisine, which is mainly based on fish, berries and products available in the region.
